With cooler climate characteristics in mind and after exhaustive research, two vineyard sites were chosen at Rylstone, NSW, with elevations ranging from 620 metres to a mind blowing 1100 metres on Nullo Mountain.
Whilst, arguably in the greater Mudgee region in the NSW Central Ranges, these sites differentiate themselves from Mudgee (45km northwest) and the Upper Hunter (75km northeast over the Wollemi National Park), in that grapes are picked many weeks later than either of these regions.
Our intention is to only produce small quantities of premium wine from our own fruit.
Vines were planted in 1998, with our first vintage in 2002.
Depending on the interpretation, 'Louee' is Aboriginal for 'place of plentiful water' or a 'chain of waterholes'.
