VINTAGE REPORT
The continuing drought required us to exercise particular care in the vineyard. Without the help of Mother Nature, each
variety in this Bordeaux-style blend was looked after by measured drip irrigation as well as canopy management to
ensure that all the berries were fed the essential nutrients to fully bloom with the desired baume (sugar) levels, as well
as the desired colours. Each variety was picked at differing times suited to their individual progress, from the petit
verdot in early March to the cabernet sauvignon which was harvested early April.
WINE MAKING
This is the sole blend in our range created to harness the best of several different grape varieties. Cabernet sauvignon is
predominant at 32%, with merlot 25%, cabernet franc 16%, petit verdot 16%, and shiraz making up the balance of
11%. Each variety was fermented separately and matured in oak suited to its individual characters before blending in
January 2004.

WINEMAKER’S NOTES
This wine has a dominant Cabernet Sauvignon nose of cassis and mint with an underlying earthiness and spice. The
palate is seamless, rich and soft with a deceptively long fine tannin finish. Simply delicious now, it will gain complexity
with careful cellaring.
