Tasting Notes

VINTAGE REPORT
The 2009 vintage started wet, but as the rain fell during the stage of ‘flowering’ the crops were lower throughout the
Nullo Mountain vineyard. The rain did stop, but when it stopped, it stopped completely which let the fruit ripen
steadily as there was no rain interrupting the process. The result of this dry finish to the season meant that harvest
was a littl e earlier than previous vintages and an increase in natural acidity in the berries.

WINEMAKING
The elevation of Nullo Mountain provides a perfect mesoclimate for Riesling grapes, especially ones with a solid
acidity structure. Hand picked fruit was whole bunch pressed to extract the free run juice which was cold fermented
in stainless steel tanks. Due to the higher acidity, fermentation was stopped early to retain the natural sweetness
and fruit characters creating a perfectly balanced wine.
